The esteemed Richard Steinnon joked with Ira how they should set up an event on Antarctica so that they could speak on all 7 continents. Ira thought that was a great idea on many fronts and found a cruise that brings people to the Antarctica continent. For many, it is a bucket list event, and many speakers likewise want to speak on all continents.
We will not only allow people to achieve their goal, but to share the experience with their friends and family.
We assume there will be a potpourri of speaking topics, where any attendee will be able to speak for 10 minutes. We are also going to be organizing other cybersecurity related activities and learning experiences throughout the trip.

As with all CruiseCon events, family is not only allowed, it is encouraged. As working professionals, we rarely get to share some of the best experiences with our family. CruiseCon changes that model. Family is as important as work for a balanced life, and CruiseCon intends to facilitate this.
The Celebrity Equinox has both accommodations and activities for families, and the venue was chosen specifically for this purpose.

This is a 16-day itinerary that spends time not only cruising through Antarctica, but also visits other areas in Argentina (including Patagonia), Uruguay, Chile, and the Falkland Islands. It is an incredible itinerary. More details can be found here.
Our inhouse attorney, Ira’s wife (and yes she is an attorney), wants to be sure we state the ship doesn’t send people onto Antarctica land. Antarctica is legally all land areas, ice shelves, associated marine areas, and airspace south of 60 degree South latitude. We considered cruises that did send people to land, but they cost upwards of $35,000 and limit family and event attendance. Our cruise will however provide extensive and incredible views of the land.

Frequently asked questions
Any past attendee can tell you that CruiseCon creates a very unique experience and community. While the Celebrity Equinox is a large cruise ship, we are going to spend more than 2 weeks together and everyone will be part of the CruiseCon family. It is also Ira Winkler’s annual birthday cruise, and we do not want any toxic people. While we frankly don’t expect to reject anyone, we need to reserve the right to do so given both the duration and intimacy of the event.
CruiseCon intends to be an open event. We do not want to exclude anyone by title or position. However, we know that some people may register with the intent to solicit business. We have had complaints about salespeople and entrepreneurs who tried to subtly and not so subtly solicit other attendees. We have completely lost patience for this type of behavior. It is disrespectful to the attendees, actual sponsors, and to the event itself. If you intend to solicit, you should be a sponsor, which will allow you to solicit freely. Become a Sponsor.
So, if we witness or are informed that any attendee engages in any type of sales activity and is not a sponsor, we will remove you from the event and report you to the ship security team. Know that soliciting is also against ship rules, and you may also be removed from the ship and banned from the Royal Caribbean Group family of cruises as well. In this case, you may be left on the far side of the planet and responsible for finding your own way home.
