Cory Watts
Cory M. Watts is a seasoned cybersecurity and technology leader with more than 27 years of experience across computer science, information technology, government, defense, and healthcare. His career includes extensive work supporting multiple government agencies, primarily the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), across a variety of technology contracts. Today, he leads cybersecurity efforts for Memorial Hospital, bringing decades of technical experience into an environment where security, resilience, risk management, and the protection of sensitive information are mission-critical. Cory's technical foundation began at Jackson State University, where he graduated summa cum laude from the W.E.B. DuBois Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He continued his education at the University of Phoenix, earning a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems, also graduating summa cum laude. His commitment to continued technical development later led him to Western Governors University, where he earned an additional bachelor's degree along with multiple professional certifications. What distinguishes Cory is the combination of deep technical experience and people-centered leadership. His career has crossed highly regulated and mission-critical environments, from supporting the Department of Defense to leading cybersecurity efforts within healthcare. That experience has shaped a leadership philosophy centered on protecting organizations while understanding the people, operations, and communities technology ultimately serves. Beyond cybersecurity, Cory has an extensive history of community and civic leadership. His involvement includes nonprofit work addressing food insecurity throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast, along with longstanding service through civic, alumni, and community organizations. With nearly three decades in technology, Cory brings the perspective of a cybersecurity leader who understands that security is ultimately about more than technology - it is about protecting people, maintaining trust, managing risk, and enabling organizations to fulfill their mission.
