Justine Bone

  • Executive Director, Crypto ISAC

Justine Bone is Executive Director of Crypto ISAC, where she is building the operating model, team and trusted intelligence-sharing mechanisms that enable companies across the digital-asset industry to collaborate on shared security threats. Her work sits at the intersection of cybersecurity, crypto-native infrastructure, financial markets and government, developing public-private partnerships and increasingly connecting the digital-asset ecosystem with the broader financial system. A deeply technical cybersecurity executive, former CISO and CEO, Justine has spent nearly three decades building and leading security organizations, companies and industry institutions. She began her career in New Zealand's intelligence community at the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB), before moving to the United States. She went on to lead global information and physical security at Bloomberg LP; serve as Head of Infrastructure and CISO at Dow Jones during its early cloud transformation; build and lead offensive-security company Immunity; and co-found and lead medical-device cybersecurity company MedSec, working extensively with regulators, government, healthcare organizations and manufacturers as medical-device cybersecurity emerged as a significant patient-safety and regulatory issue. Across those roles, a recurring theme has been taking on problems that cannot be solved by technology alone. Justine has built teams and companies, developed products and new operating models, led through periods of disruption and intense public scrutiny, and brought together technical teams, executives, boards, regulators, government and industry around problems where their interests and constraints do not naturally align. She is particularly effective in consequential situations where technology, markets, regulation and public trust collide. Justine remains closely connected to the technical security community. She has served on Black Hat's Review Boards since 2017 and spent eight years as a founding external member of HP's Security Advisory Board, advising security, product and research leadership on areas including product security, vulnerability research, firmware and hardware risk, software supply chains and emerging threats. Her work also spans product strategy, venture investment and advisory roles across cybersecurity and emerging technology. New Zealand-born and with most of her executive career built in the United States, Justine brings an international perspective and an unusual ability to translate between deeply technical, commercial and institutional worlds. A former professional ballet dancer, she is as comfortable on stage as in the boardroom and is a frequent moderator and contributor to senior industry forums. She divides her time between New York and Miami.
